In addition to his role with Franlogic, Samane is recognized as an expert with a proven track record in planning, launching, and growing successful businesses and franchises, both nationally and internationally.
After discovering Lisa Kornstein Kaufman’s Scout & Molly’s boutiques Samane recognized that they could be developed into a great franchise system. With exceptional relationship management skills, a solid background in core business functions including leadership, training and development, marketing / sales, customer service management and business operations and project management, Samane had the ability to expand the brand into a national system.
His core belief is that franchising success comes from franchisee and franchisor transparency and alignment.
John Simon comes to us with over 35 years in Franchise Operations and Senior Management. John has gained vast experience and knowledge in Senior Management with Mailboxes Etc who he then sold to UPS, Maaco Auto Painting and Tyco Inc. John will be responsible for overseeing the growth of our franchise operations, budgeting, store performance, vendor and franchise relationships to a state of profitability. John has extensive experience in budgeting, finance, data analyzation & profitability. We’re excited to have him here to take our franchise to the next level!
Lisa Kornstein Kaufman is the original founder of Scout & Molly’s and now also serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Scout Franlogic Development, LLC. Lisa opened the very first Scout & Molly’s boutique in 2002. The store was named after her beloved Labrador retrievers, who for many years, could be found lounging in the store. Lisa has over a decade of experience in owning and operating a successful boutique business. She has a proven ability to pick out trend styles and also to make her customers feel as though they are shopping in the comfort of their best friend’s closet. Lisa is passionate about incorporating philanthropy into her business model. She is an active volunteer with the National MS Society. That particular cause is one she holds close to her heart since her own diagnosis with the disease over 6 years ago. She is also involved with Saving Grace Animal Rescue as well as various other charitable groups throughout the community. Lisa has a drive unparalleled by many and her desire to take Scout & Molly’s nationwide is propelling her forward with great enthusiasm.
Steve Pruitt currently serves as President of Retail for Scout & Molly’s. Steve is a retail industry veteran with over 30 years of experience in merchandise planning, leadership coaching, and retail financials. Steve began his career at a national merchandising planning firm, and has worked with some of the most successful independent apparel stores across the country as both an analyst and trusted consultant. In 2004, he founded Blacks Retail, offering merchants highly specialized planning and consulting services based on innovative technologies. Steve is now considered one of the top retail industry analysts in the U.S. and brings with him a solid understanding of retail best practices, sales strategies, and merchandise and financial planning. He oversees all retail activities for Scout & Molly’s with a focus on helping franchisees grow their businesses.
Marisa is our Vice President of Operations and Strategy. Marisa comes to us with over 10 years experience in building start ups from the ground up. Marisa has a proven track record of consistently exceeding objectives through forecasting, strategic planning, competitive analysis and presentation skills. Marisa is an agile, strategic thinker with extreme problem solving and listening skills. Her prime responsibility at Scout & Molly’s is overseeing Corporate Operations across the franchise while also working with franchisees to achieve profitability after establishing a financial strategy with tangible metrics.
Marisa is focused on ways to drive profitability through lowering costs, managing/hiring the right staff, customer experience/sales, stream lining & creating operational process, eCommerce and Digital Marketing. Marisa oversees all Scout & Molly’s Operational vendor relationships, Operational processes & procedures, Marketing & Corporate Strategy.
Marisa is a fashion lover of all things chic and monochrome! When she isn’t brainstorming ways to drive the franchise forward, Marisa can be found either online shopping or dancing.
Lindsey serves as our Operations & Marketing Manager. Lindsey is responsible for training franchisees on all operational systems & the creation of marketing materials.
With two degrees in Communications & English, Lindsey graduated from Bloomsburg University and immediately entered the fashion industry working for a luxury digital resell company. In the past, Lindsey has worked to build & organize data for eCommerce sites, manage social media fashion focused accounts and trained customers on system platforms.
At Scout & Molly’s, Lindsey organizes the creation of advertisements and promotions, conducts on going training and support for all systems, and manages the relationships with our marketing partners. When she isn’t working, Lindsey can be found reading with her cats.
Melissa Novell is a highly skilled professional retail executive. She brings with her over 25 years of retail experience and over 16 years of Women’s fashion retail specialty store experience. She has even owned her own Franchise.
Melissa began her retail career working at a luxury retail brand and has held SVP and VP Merchandising roles with several key retailers across the country. Since her specialty experience was in a value conscious market, she knows how to negotiate great prices with vendors, in order to pass that value to the consumer.
She, also, works closely with her vendors on trend direction and possesses an uncanny ability to identify and forecast key fashion trends. This enables her to select the next big fashion idea. Melissa has a passion for the retail business, is decisive and a great communicator. She guides the purchase of key fashion styling with enthusiasm and conviction. In addition, she has
extensive experience shopping Europe for trend direction, product development, and traveling overseas to source product with manufacturers.
In combination with Melissa’s fashion sense, she is excellent at store merchandising and strategizing a cohesive marketing and promotional plan. This all combines with a skill set in the financial planning process, in order to be able to deliver a revenue generating business plan.
At Scout & Molly’s, Melissa oversees all retail buying and merchandising activities with a focus on helping our franchisees grow and enhance their businesses.
During her spare time, Melissa enjoys her family, two dogs (Macy and Bandit), attending vintage automobile shows, and playing golf.
Larry Barto currently serves as Real Estate Manager for Scout & Molly’s. Larry Barto brings credentials as both a commercial real estate professional and as a multi-unit food service executive. Larry has completed leases / opened new store locations for hundreds of franchise retail and restaurant locations throughout the country for companies such as Rita’s Italian Ice, K9 Resorts Daycare & Luxury Hotel, United Financial Services Group, Popeye’s Chicken ‘N Biscuits, Wendy’s Old Fashioned Hamburgers, and The Gravity Vault – indoor rock climbing. As an independent owner, Larry operated a five-unit restaurant company. Larry coordinates with franchisees and suppliers on Scout & Molly’s real estate, pre-open checklists and store fit outs.
Nikki serves as our Operations Coordinator. Nikki is responsible for working on our digital programs, marketing and operational needs.
Nikki graduated from Arcadia University with a degree in Business and a concentration in Marketing. During her time in school Nikki interned within the fashion industry with previous work including fashion/lifestyle blogging as well as social media and marketing work for fashion designers. She loves keeping up with the ever changing trends of the fashion industry and coming up with ways to use her creativity to move the business forward.
At Scout & Molly’s Nikki manages e-commerce sites, helping with marketing materials, assisting in social media and various operational work. When Nikki isn’t working she can be found watching reality TV, hiking, or coordinating outfits for her friends and family!
Kristen Mikelson serves as our Assistant Buyer under our VP of Merchandising, Melissa Novell. Kristen is responsible for all things merchandising, such as keeping up with the latest Fashion trends, communicating with vendors while maintaining strong vendor relationships, assisting our Franchisee’s with help for their buying needs, and attending market shows to further expand her knowledge and understanding of the buying world.
Kristen graduated from the University of Delaware in 2018, with a degree in Fashion Merchandising. From there, she obtained two internships; one pertaining to Sportswear buying, and one as an assistant visual merchandiser for a sportswear swimwear line.
Growing up, Kristen has always been fascinated with the fashion industry due to her aunt being a fashion photographer and letting her participate in shoots, dressed in extravagant outfits.
Currently at Scout & Molly’s, Kristen will continue to support and help grow the company by consistently building the relationships between the Franchisee’s and the vendors as well as assisting Melissa Novell in the corporate functions of the buying team. When she is not working, Kristen can be found hanging out with her friends and cats, or relaxing at the beach!
