A sweet hello Scout followers!
Flowers, chocolate, jewelry, cards … Have you ever thought why red, pink and white are the colors for Valentine’s day? Red means love, symbolic of the heart, and the red rose was the favorite flower of Venus, the Roman goddess of love. Red and white, make pink. Red is usually reserved for romantic, intimate relationships and pink can be for close friends or family members on Valentine’s Day.
Some say the icon of Valentine’s Day is Cupid, a flying creature that shoots people with his bow and arrow – making them instantly fall in love. And according to the origins of Valentine’s Day, it seems to be a celebration of heroic love – a celebration of Saint Valentine who fought for love. Valentine was jailed for continuing to secretly marry young lovers, defying the Roman Emperor of the third century that insisted single men made better soldiers. For this he was sentenced to death and later named for the holiday celebrating lovers.
