Shopping can be a process, but there are some simple steps you can take to make your experience fun and productive. You’ll have more success (and more fun!) during each shopping trip with these tips on how to shop for the perfect outfit.
Explore: Before you head out the door, take a look online at some fashion trends that seem to be striking their way into the season. This may help you decide what type of outfit you want to search for. It’ll give you a look into what’s in style, what’s coming back, or what might be on its way out. Often times you’ll be able to get a glimpse into what the season has in store, as many looks are available online a little before the season actually begins.
Know Your Body: Different styles are better for different bodies. It’s important to have a general idea of what styles look best on you and what you feel comfortable wearing. Maybe you don’t think flare jeans look best on you and you should go for a boot cut. Don’t close your mind to options, but knowing what you think looks best on you will help you to purchase more pieces that will help you feel great about yourself. When you walk out the door in the morning each foot should step with confidence. You almost always feel better when you like the way you look!
Something In Mind: When looking for the perfect outfit, make the process simple by having an idea in mind of what you’re looking to purchase. For starters, are you shopping for an outfit for a night out on the town? Lunch with friends? A day at the beach? From there, know what you would like your outfit to include. Ask yourself if you think you’d want your outfit to be a dress or maybe a top and bottom combo. These tips will make your decision process when you get in the shop a lot easier.
Be Open Minded: Don’t be closed off to that magenta top just because your closet isn’t filled with lots of pinks and purples. If you have an idea of what you’re looking for and see something that’s your color but not your usual style–– try it anyway! What do you have to lose? Be open minded when shopping and remember that just because you’ve never worn something like that before, doesn’t mean that it won’t look great or that you won’t love it! Try on accessories of all kinds with your outfit – sometimes that chunky necklace or dainty dangling earrings can be the missing piece to the puzzle. It really can be the little things!
