Scout & Molly's English Village

It’s almost summer and a good time for a moment of reflection.

Summer arrives at about the halfway point of the calendar year, meaning that we’re about mid-way through with our New Year’s resolutions. That makes it the perfect time to evaluate things. It’s also a great opportunity to devise fun (and productive) things to do over the summer.

5 Ideas for Making This the Best Summer Yet

Learn a New Skill

You could focus on this any time of the year, but summer offers certain advantages. Now that we’re well clear of the frigid cold for a while, it’s time to explore outdoor novelties like hiking, outdoor mountain biking, photography, golf, or some other sport. You can even try something more laid back like throwing a backyard evening party, thus honing your skills as an amiable hostess.

Meet People – Make New Friends

While you’re at it, summer is the best time to come out of your shell if you’ve been hibernating lately. Yes, we all run into that paralysis of too much screen usage. It’s time to not only go outside but set our cell phones aside for a while and meet people face-to-face more often.

Volunteer for Something

Perhaps the easiest way to meet new people is to participate in a volunteer project. There are literally dozens of possibilities, including visiting hospitalized patients, walking your neighbor’s dog for them, joining a nonprofit board, or coaching children’s sports.

Travel Somewhere You’ve Never Been

We’re near plenty of fascinating stuff in Pennsylvania, but if you’re willing to drive or fly, there’s more to do all over the country. Have you been to Glacier National Park? The summer is the best time to visit colder areas like that. It’s also a fine chance to check out the streets of Montreal, Canada, Augusta National Park in Maine, or anywhere else to beat the heat.

Upgrade Your Wardrobe

Of course, since we’re all about women’s fashion and apparel, we can’t forget to include it in our summer plans. There’s no time like seasonal changes to audit your wardrobe. Start with a quick inventory of what you have, replace the items that are deteriorating, and identify whether you’re missing anything. If you’d like specific help with this, then check out our previous post on how to assemble a capsule wardrobe.
That gives you five stellar ways to make this summer fun and productive. Can you think of anything we forgot?

If so, then feel free to visit us and share your ideas with your friends at Scout & Molly’s English Village.
